Compensation and Hours: $15.75 for 35 hours per week
Duration: June 6 – Oct. 28 (21 week placement)
Opportunity
This position is an internship at Cowichan Bio-Diesel Co-op facilitated by the BC Co-operative Association’s Co-operative Career Internship Program.
The successful candidate will be responsible for communications and outreach, including coordinating membership, development of strategic partnerships, and organization for the 2011 Collective Biofules Conference which the Co-op is co-hosting August 5-7 in Duncan, BC. They will also provide assistance with the development of the Cowichan Biofuels Facility located at the CVRD Bings Creek Solid Waste Management Depot. They will conduct research on strategies for accessing opportunities in other renewable energies and Carbon Credit markets.
Qualifications
– completion of post-secondary education in communications, marketing, or science/technical field
– webpage editing, writing, and desktop publishing experience (for newsletters/reports)
– strong interpersonal skills
– comfortable with community and media relations
– an understanding of biofuels and renewable energies
