Junior Programmer

OVERALL ACCOUNTABILITY:
You will develop code and test applications from detailed specifications. Working closely with other IT team members, and on occasion with the user community to determine, code, and test solutions, your primary responsibilities will be enhancement, maintenance programming, and testing tasks for the SOLO (in-house) system.
Under general direction, working with Programmer Analysts and Systems Analysts, you will document, develop, code, test, debug, and implement new software or enhancements to existing software. You must be competent to work on complex programs with guidance. You will assist in the estimation development tasks for assigned work, develop and maintain program specifications, perform unit testing, and assist in system and regression testing, collaborate with user acceptance testing to resolve development issues.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
. post-secondary education in computer science/programming or an equivalent combination of education and experience
. demonstrated problem solving, self-management, and organizational skills
. strong customer service orientation
. excellent verbal and written communication skills
. proficiency in the MS Office suite of tools
. exposure to or experience with Lotus Notes and MS Project
. ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
. team player with good interpersonal skills
. demonstrated facility with or understanding of problem/change management process
Proficiency and development experience is required in the following:
. Oracle – PL/SQL, Forms, Reports, Discoverer (optional), Designer (optional)
. Unix Shell Scripting, vi
. Windows Batch Scripting
. Exposure to Software Configuration Management (SCM) controls & processes
Proficiency and development experience in the following is considered an asset:
. SQL Server
. Microsoft Dynamics SL
. Crystal Reports
