Located in Iqaluit, the incumbent will report to Executive Director Corporate Services/CFO. The Budget and Financial Planning Officer is responsible for developing and managing long and short range capital and O&M budgets and provide financial planning for the Corporation in accordance with the FAA, FAM and other related policies, procedures, directives and regulations in order to provide effective planning, control and reporting for the Corporation.

Some responsibilities of the position include:
• Developing and managing the Corporations budget standards and processes
for Capital Planning and operational revenues and expenditures.
• Managing and coordinates the short term planning processes and develops the
Annual Corporate Capital Plan, Business Plan, Operation Plan and Main
Estimates.
• Developing and managing the Corporations long range capital planning
processes to assist Senior Management in establishing their strategic
objectives and plans.
• Evaluates proposed policies and analyzes financial data and reports to
determine the impact on the Corporation and the Nunavut Government’s and
Financial/Capital Plans.
• Monitors the corporate cash controls and works with the Manager, Financial
Services to ensure any surplus funds are invested to optimize return on
investments while minimizing risk exposure of capital.

The ideal candidate will possess a Professional Accounting Designation (CGA, CMA, CA) and have a minimum of 5 years working experience in Financial Planning. The incumbent will have detailed knowledge of accounting theory, generally accepted accounting principals and financial analyses and planning. Canadian accreditations must be shown and Canadian work experience is preferred. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.

The successful candidate will be required to submit a satisfactory Criminal Records Check through the RCMP.

This position is included in the Nunavut Employees Union and has an annual salary range of $87,224 – $99,002, plus a Northern Allowance of $15,016 per annum.
