Program Administrator (Temporary) Job Vacancy in Canada- Skeena Watershed Program

Organization: Pacific Salmon Foundation Location: Vancouver, British Columbia

The Pacific Salmon Foundation (PSF) is seeking a full-time temporary Program Administrator to provide administrative and clerical services to the Pacific Salmon Foundation’s (PSF) Skeena Watershed program. The Skeena Watershed program focuses on the delivery and coordination of a multi-sectoral, collaborative planning process known as the Skeena Watershed Initiative (SWI). The SWI provides a forum for residents of the Skeena Watershed to discuss how Skeena salmon fisheries might best be organized to provide social, community and economic benefits to residents of the Skeena Watershed. PSF currently acts as Secretariat to the SWI and provides logistical, administrative, and financial support to the process and its participants. The Skeena Watershed program operates out of Vancouver although travel to communities within the Skeena Watershed (i.e., Terrace, Smithers, Prince Rupert) may be required once or twice per month. This is a temporary position that runs until October 31 2011.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Maintains a file management system for all Skeena Watershed program related files.
• Assists with project funding processes, including proposal solicitation, preparing contracts and developing funding application packages.
• Provides logistical support for events, travel, and other program related activities.
• Maintains effective communications with SWI participants, contractors, regulators, and the general public regarding program activities, meeting dates, and project requirements.
• Maintains and develops content for the program’s website and online systems.
• Assists with monitoring and tracking the progress of Skeena Watershed projects including, but not limited to, the timely submission of interim and final reports.
• Responsible for processing invoices and coordinating expense claim payments, honorariums and SWI meeting related expenditures.
• Responsible for recording meeting minutes and distributing the minutes to meeting participants for their approval.
• Assists in the development of proposals, reports, and presentations.
• Carries out other administrative duties and small projects as directed by the Program Coordinator.

Required skills, education and experience:
• Strong clerical and administrative background, with at least 2 years of demonstrated experience.
• Education or employment experience related to biology, environmental studies, natural resource management or a related field.
• High level of attention to detail and effective organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and comfortable working with diverse stakeholder groups on contentious resource management issues.
• Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience with strategic planning and project management would be considered an asset.
