About TREC Renewable Energy Co-op & SolarShare:

TREC Renewable Energy Co-operative is a not-for-profit organization that has
been working for more than 10 years to develop co-operatively owned renewable
energy projects in Ontario and to educate about renewable energy, conservation,
and the community power model. TREC developed North America’s first urban-sited
wind turbine in partnership with Toronto Hydro, establishing the WindShare
Co-op. SolarShare, the newest project of TREC, was established in 2010 and
seeks to engage citizens of Ontario in the development of local, community
solar electricity generation. Today, SolarShare has built 18 solar projects
across the province and raised community investment from 125 co-op members in
the form of Community Solar Bonds.
