CONDITIONS:
• Manager Position (30-40h/week)
• Preference will be given to candidates who are eligible for an “Emploi de Quebec” wage subsidy (available to those who are looking for a job in their field of study);
• Where: West Island of Montreal (Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue);
• Candidates may have to work weeknights and weekends;
• Candidates must be fluent in spoken and written French and English
• Salary: 14$/h
Manager training period to begin towards end of April (paid at minimum wage). Start date: End of May 2012 (possibly earlier).
DESCRIPTION:
Representative to the Co-op Administrative Board. Manager of the Cooperative, in charge of overseeing human resources, finances, development and the maintenance and proper functioning of the store. Basic running of a dynamic small business.
Main Responsibilities:
• Manage the store finances, ensuring good book keeping and budget planning. Producing monthly financial reports for the Co-op board of directors.
• Work with the Co-op employees and members to develop, organise and promote events and activities at the Co-op.
• Supervise all human resource management (hiring, employee training and evaluation, scheduling).
• Supervise the store inventory management.
• Work together with the Administrative Board and the Co-op team to plan, strategise and improve the direction of the Co-operative
• Develop the Co-op’s business plan and represent the Co-op in the development of new markets and contract negotiations.
• Maintain communication and create new marketing tools for the co-op (Website upkeep and improvement, Member updates, social media, newsletters, etc)
• Ensure proper maintenance of the building and the garden
• Ensure that the Co-op conforms with all government laws and norms.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• University Bachelor’s degree or technical or professional DEC in a related field, preferably in business, management, or in environment or work experience related to the position.
• Experience in the management of a retail business, human resources, a cooperative or non-profit business is an asset but not essential.
• Strong commitment to sustainable, social and ecological solutions
• Bilingual: Spoken and written French and English
• Point of sales experience
• Experience in accounting and the program Acomba are assets;
• Experience with social economy, and healthy and ecological products are assets;
