role of Communications and Outreach Assistant, York Region, may be the
position for you.
Ontario’s Greenbelt is the solution for clean air, fresh water, and
healthy local food. At almost 2 million acres, it is the world’s
largest greenbelt preserving productive farmland, forests, and
wetlands from urban development.
The Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation is an independent, charitable
organization dedicated to promoting and sustaining Ontario’s
Greenbelt. The Foundation supports work to strengthen the agricultural
sector, protect and restore our natural environment, and create a
pattern of urban settlement that supports the Greenbelt.
Scope of Work:
The successful candidate will report to the Director, York Region, and
work with other Foundation team members to:
• Research and identify Greenbelt-related issues in York Region
• Write content and help share positive stories about the Greenbelt
• Conduct research and prepare reports, briefing notes,
correspondence, presentations, and other documents
• Liaise with Foundation staff in the preparation of information and
supporting materials
• Attend and organize local meetings dealing with 2015 Review issues
including but not limited to ‘Greenbelt Days’ at City / Regional Hall
• Organize and attend public events
• Manage special projects as required
• Serve as Executive Assistant to the Director, York Region
• Maintain up-to-date lists and contacts
• Conduct all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have:
Knowledge and Experience
• Experience planning and executing events
• Superior project management skills – including but not limited to
developing work plans, budgets, and critical paths
• Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint or
similar presentation software
• Knowledge in the use of social media tools including Twitter,
Facebook, and LinkedIn
• Knowledge of land use planning, environmental, and / or agricultural
issues will be considered an asset
• A valid driver’s license
• A great sense of humour
