ABOUT THE POSITION

windsoriteDOTca
News – Windsor’s premier all-local, online,
neighbourhood newspaper is looking for a Part-time News Reporter to
join its passionate, ambitious, accomplished team to become part of a
profitable, growing company where employees master their creativity and
create a track record of success.

We’re looking for
an individual who loves writing, knows how to get readers
excited with well-written wording, can take great photos, can
interview and can put together written news stories.

REQUIREMENTS

You must…

Have
experience with news article writing/reporting, or a strong desire to
learn.
Have
beyond camera-phone photography skills and demonstrate it.
Be
prepared to arrange to meet with the subjects of news stories, conduct
interviews, take photos and prepare stories.
Have
reliable transportation to places where news happens.

EXPECTATIONS

You will…

Handle
a variety of types of news assignments
Work
with editors and other news team members to pitch catchy story ideas.
Be
expected to commit to a minimum of 5 stories per month.
Be
self-motivated and work unsupervised on location and from home
occasionally. You will also work at the windsoriteDOTca newsroom as
needed.
Need
to meet deadlines.

SUGGESTED SKILLS
& ABILITIES

You’re more likely to
be considered if you have…

A
degree or diploma in journalism, and/or relevant experience writing news.
Skill
in writing in accordance with the Canadian Press Style Guide.
Examples
of your work (both written and photographic).
Your
own DSLR camera and experience taking great photos.
A
genuine love to wine, dine, visit locally-owned businesses and enjoy
what Windsor-Essex has to offer.
