IFEX is seeking
applications for the regular full-time position of Membership Coordinator.
IFEX is a global network of 95 member organisations that defend and promote the
right to freedom of expression and information (www.ifex.org). The Secretariat of the IFEX network is based
in
Toronto and candidates must be eligible to work in Canada. IFEX provides a

Job purpose: The IFEX Membership
Coordinator works within the Member and Network Development (MND) Programme to
deliver elements of the programme’s strategy. Priorities in this role include coordination
of membership related processes and activities like support to members, member
database, new member applications, regional and thematic meetings.
Duties and
responsibilities of the Membership Coordinator:
- Coordinate
the IFEX grants process, including the call, reception and review of
applications, making recommendations on their approval and implement the
disbursement and follow up processes. - Meeting
coordination for IFEX events such as the General Meeting and Strategy
Conference, regional and thematic meetings/workshops or other IFEX related
events. - Maintain
membership databases to ensure dynamic and ongoing communications with
members. - Perform
administrative tasks in order to compile, analyse and process membership
applications and fee payments. - Contribute
to the monitoring, evaluation and implementation of the overall MND
strategy. - Collaborate
with the Information and Audience Engagement, and Campaigns and Advocacy
programmes - Other
duties as required.
Experience,
skills and qualifications:
- University
degree in related discipline, or equivalent experience; - 1-3
years’ working experience in a membership-based organisation or related
field; - Excellent
oral and written communications skills in English – French, Spanish and/or
Arabic an asset; - Experience
with financial management including reporting and budgeting; - Experience
with planning and organising events; - Awareness
of human rights, freedom of expression and democratic development issues; - Knowledge
and experience in managing databases and email management systems, such as
Salesforces, WhatCounts and Electric Embers; - Excellent
interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a variety of
contexts; - Excellent
organizational and administrative skills, strong attention to detail; - Experience
working with NGOs, networks and/or coalitions an asset; - Must be
eligible to work in Canada.
