municipalities within the Credit River Watershed. We are dedicated to

environmental needs. At this time, we are seeking to fill the position
of:

Environmental Outreach Specialist

1 Permanent Position

We are seeking an independent, energetic and organized individual with
a background in environmental science, outreach and communications to
fill the position of Environmental Outreach Specialist for CVC’s
Countryside Stewardship Program.

The countryside stewardship section is responsible for educating
landowners in the rural Credit River watershed on issues facing the
watershed and their role in protecting watershed health, for promoting
CVC’s restoration and stewardship services, encouraging environmental
stewardship and motivating individuals to take action to preserve and
enhance the local natural environment.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

Reporting to the Manager, Landowner Outreach, the Environmental
Outreach Specialist helps advance private land stewardship and inspire
environmental action in the rural Credit River watershed by
developing, implementing, and maintaining innovative outreach tools,
resources, campaigns and activities that foster behaviour change. The
specialist works closely with program staff members to support their
individual program needs and acts as program liaison with the
marketing and communications division.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
• Post secondary education with a specialization in environmental
sciences/studies, ecology, natural resource management or a field
appropriate to the area of specialization; some training or experience
in communications, marketing, public relations, social sciences or
related area
• Minimum of three years experience related to major tasks
• Knowledge of ecological principles, local ecosystems and
environmental conservation principles and practices
• Experience in or knowledge of Community Based Social Marketing
• Ability to develop and implement engaging and effective outreach
materials and tactics
• Experience in development and delivery of adult environmental
education programs
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; ability to
research and write a variety of different communications materials
including articles, factsheets, e-publications and reports
• Knowledge and proven expertise using social media and digital
communications tools to reach landowners and encourage stewardship
• Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to
effectively manage multiple projects with overlapping tasks and within
deadlines
• Experience performing research, data collection, analysis, and
report preparation
• Experience preparing and managing budgets and project work plans
• Experience working with committees, external partners and volunteers
• Experience in special event coordination and planning
• Experience in MS Office, database management and outlook
• Valid class ‘G’ Driver’s License
• Able to work some weekends and evenings

SUMMARY OF MAJOR TASKS
• Lead the development of new and innovative landowner outreach
campaigns, tools and projects that foster behaviour change.
• Generate and lead implementation of outreach ideas and strategies to
enhance and expand reach to landowners in the rural watershed.
• Conduct/coordinate social market research to inform program
development, respond to emerging needs and measure program
performance.
• Lead the program’s use of new media tools including online
discussion forums, e-newsletters, twitter and Facebook in
collaboration with marketing and communications division.
• Prepare, coordinate and/or deliver workshops to landowners on land
stewardship topics such as pond management, pollinator habitat,
Emerald Ash Borer, ground water protection.
• Prepare, coordinate and/or deliver presentations to landowners,
committees, community groups and other stakeholders on issues facing
the watershed and actions landowners can take to protect watershed
health.
• Coordinate special events such as landowner appreciation events,
interpretive walks, and bus tours of stewardship projects.
• Write content and coordinate production and distribution of
newsletters, factsheets, articles, landowner profiles and other
outreach materials in collaboration with marketing and communications
division.
• Maintain and manage inventories of landowner outreach resource materials.
• Develop strategies, write content and coordinate production and
distribution of promotional materials for the countryside stewardship
program in collaboration with marketing and communications division.
• Review and update content on countryside stewardship program web
pages; develop new content as needed in collaboration with marketing
and communications division.
• Coordinate development of countryside stewardship display booth for
use at trade shows and events; assist with scheduling and staffing
display booth at community events.
• Lead the development and implementation of new promotional
strategies to increase awareness and uptake of countryside
stewardships programs in collaboration with marketing and
communications division.
• Develop funding proposals in support of countryside stewardship
program’s outreach activities.
• Manage expenditures within a fixed budget.
• Track outreach accomplishments and behaviour changes.
• Prepare project proposals and reports; maintain project records and contacts.
• Act as liaison between countryside stewardship section and marketing
and communications division for development, production and
distribution of section’s outreach materials and services.
• Other duties as assigned.

Anticipated Start Date: July 20, 2015 (35 hours/week)
