The Great Climate Race is looking for a outgoing and organized individual to
take on working with volunteers and and working with other to implement our
email and social media campaigns.
The Great Climate Race is a new running event series focused on raising money
for local solar energy projects. Our inaugural event is a 10k and 2k on
November 8th in Vancouver. We are looking for someone who can commit to working
full time starting immediately and continue on until at least the date of the
event. We have future events planned in Vancouver and elsewhere and if it’s a
good fit there is the possibility of this becoming a full time permanent
position.
The ideal person would be passionate about climate change and its a bonus if
you are an avid runner but not a requirement. We need someone who is available
to work on weekend and evenings for outreach events when needed.
We want someone who will take a sense of ownership of helping us reach our
outreach and event registration targets and will work closely with other key
members of the team to reach our goals.
We work out of a shared workspace which you will have access to for meetings
and working together when needed.
A driver’s license and access to an automobile is an asset. Car co-op
membership is an acceptable (and climate friendly) way to approach this.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinating volunteers
• Working with team coordinate and implement social media campaigns
• Working with team coordinate email outreach and follow up
• Directly engaging the public at information booths
• Work with the executive team to achieve registration and engagement goals
• Other tasks as they may arise
Skills Required
• Experience organizing volunteers
• Experience writing email campaign copy
• Experience executing social media campaigns
• Graphic design skills an asset
• Project management skills an asset
• Availability on some weekends and weeknights
Other Helpful Assets
• Drivers license and access to automobile (preferably hybrid or electric car –
can include car share membership) or willingness/ ability to transport campaign
materials to various locations on transit/ bike
• Fun to work with! Our event will be the most fun you’ve ever had changing the
world. We need you to help make that a reality.
• Familiarity with climate change and renewable energy is helpful
• Interest in fitness and running is also helpful
Terms of Contract
This is a full time position from the hiring date to November 8th. Compensation
is negotiable depdent uppon experience. We are a small but growing
organization. This is a great opportunity to get involved in something great
early on.
