Marketing and Office Assistant (Three-Month Contract)
LEAF is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the pro
tection and
enhancement of the urban forest. Our community-based programs seek to engage
residents as active urban forest stewards through accessible, on-the-ground
programs. We are currently seeking a Marketing and Office Assistant to support
us in our marketing, design, social media and office administration needs. The
ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational and communication
skills, demonstrate initiative and creativity and have a passion for
environmental issues. They will be an independent, motivated team player. The
position will offer an excellent opportunity to gain skills and experience
working with a non-profit organization that engages the public in creative
ways.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Program Manager and working closely with other staff, the
Marketing and Office Assistant is responsible for:
• Coordinating and implementing the ongoing design, production and maintenance
of various internal and external materials and publications (brochures, annual
report, postcards, etc.)
• Coordinating and implementing online and digital media activities and
projects, including website, social media activities, and online communications
(newsletters, blog, event promotions, photos, video)
• Coordinating and implementing marketing activities
• Tracking media coverage and other promotions
• Contributing to report writing
• Front-line customer service including booking appointments, processing
orders, data entry and other administrative tasks
• Additional tasks as required
Qualifications
The successful applicant will demonstrate, through a combination of experience,
education and/or training the following key skills and assets:
• Undergraduate degree or college diploma – programs in marketing and
communications, urban forestry, environmental studies or related field
preferred
• Creative and technical skills in graphic design and communications, both in
print and digital formats (Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, etc.)
• Creative and technical skills in social media, using established and emerging
platforms (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
• Website design and maintenance skills (Drupal) considered an asset
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Extremely strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and highly
effective time-management, as well as the ability to multi-task and work to
deadlines
• Ability to work in an independent, self-directed manner, while coordinating
with and complementing a broader staff team
• Ability to be proactive, creative, innovative and solutions-oriented
• Superior customer service skills
• Experience working with or volunteering for a not-for-profit organization an
asset
This is a three-month contract position, 35 – 40 hrs/week. Reports to the
Program Manager.
