Position: Project Manager, Energy Efficiency
Specialist

Summerhill is expanding our project management team in Ontario and is looking
for a Project Manager, Energy Efficiency Specialist.

Role & Responsibilities:

The Project Manager provides direction and leadership for their respective
project(s), is responsible for ensuring cohesive and consistent program
delivery on time, on budget, on target, with a succ

essful team and to the
client’s satisfaction within established quality standards. The Project Manager
is responsible for leading the project planning, implementation and close-out
processes while managing various project deliverables.

As an energy efficiency specialist at Summerhill, responsibilities may include,
but not limited to:
• Conducting ASHRAE Level 1 or 2 audits;
• Providing technical energy management expertise to the project management and
business development teams;
• Training field staff to support with basic home energy auditing and
reporting;
• Proactive integration of field reporting and scheduling software tools;
• Ensure high quality completion of incentive applications.

Accountability & Reporting:

This role reports to the Senior Director, Program Operations. Project Managers
are typically supported by project staff and other Summerhill personnel. This
support team may include: project coordinator(s), call centre and field based
staff persons.

Project Management Responsibilities:
• Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet
changing needs and requirements.
• Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
• Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope.
• Reviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to client (internal or
external clients).
• Effectively applies Summerhill methodology and enforces project quality
standards.
• Minimizes organizational exposure and risk on project(s).
• Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
• Ensures project learnings and outcomes are captured and reported for future
reference.

Project Accounting
• Understands basic revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections and
makes decisions accordingly.
• Ensures project legal documents are completed and signed.
• Manages project budget, including monthly review and reconciliation.
• Understands project pricing model and billing procedures.
• Ensures timely and accurate invoicing, and monitors project receivables.

Business Development
• Identifies business development and “add-on” sales opportunities as
they relate to a specific project.
• Shares opportunities for project or client growth with appropriate team
members.
• Effectively conveys corporate message in both written and verbal business
development discussions.
• Develops project budgets for new project design based on knowledge of
delivery and resource requirements.

Communication
• Facilitates team and client meetings effectively.
• Holds regular status meetings with project team.
• Keeps project team well informed of changes to project scope and plan.
• Effectively communicates relevant project information to project
stakeholders, internal and external clients.
• Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.
• Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
• Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.

Stakeholder Management
• Manages day-to-day interaction with project stakeholders (internal and
external customers, vendors and other interested parties).
• Develops lasting relationships with client personnel that foster ongoing
relationships.
• Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs.

Qualifications
• 2 years of experience in energy auditing (AHRAE Level 1 or Level 2) and/or
project management
• Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation, Certified Engineering
Technologist (CET), or those with engineering or building science background.
• Ability to demonstrate a strong knowledge of DSM and energy conservation and
familiarity with relevant provincial residential and commercial incentive
programs.
