Director of
Finance
Dechinta is seeking
a passionate team-member for our growing interdisciplinary team. Dechinta seeks
an innovative Finance Expert familiar with non-profit, post-secondary, and/or
social enterprise fields. The Director of Finance will have exceptional
teamwork skills, be innovation focused and committed to the values of the
organization. Experience in Indigenous organizations, communities an asset.
Qualifications
Degree
in business administration, operations management, finance or equivalent (BA,
MA, MBA) or Professional accounting designation or near completion of
experiential requirement (CPA/CA)
Minimum
5 years relevant experience
Familiarity
with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for non-profits.
Advanced
expertise in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling
Competency
with SAGE accounting an asset.
Strong
analytical and quantitative skills
Commitment
to excellence and accuracy, ability to manage multiple project budgets
Advanced
interpersonal and communications skills and ability to work independently as
well as with teams.
Demonstrated
interest and knowledge in key issues in effective nonprofit management, social
enterprise, and impact investing.
Information
technology, data processing,
Duties
include:
Bookkeeping:
Payroll, CPP, GST, Federal Payroll tax
Ensuring
all statutory requirements for charitable organization are met.
Book
keeping, multiple project budget management
Manage
cash flow and all other financial and accounting activities
Design
and produce reports, including a weekly Key Performance Indicator (KPI) report
of financial and operational metrics, and quarterly board reports
Receivables/receipts
Record
fundraising receipts, deposits and other bank transactions
Reconcile
funding to funder reports
Work
with project directors to create budgets and closely monitor budget vs. actual
spending throughout the year.
Operational
and compliance reporting: prepare reports for grant audits
Preparing
information for yearly audit
Strategic
relationships and building long term finance model and stability
Building
with leadership team a social impact investment and endowment fund
