The
British High Commission (BHC) Kigali works to support the UK Government’s
foreign policy objectives in Rwanda and has a vacancy for a Personal Assistant
to the High Commissioner & Residence Manager A2 (L).
Main purpose of job:
To
provide an efficient and executive Personal Assistant role to the High
Commissioner by managing his office and diary. To act as Residence Manager,
ensuring that official events and visits are run professionally and the
Residence itself is well-run. To play a supporting role for Consular Services
at the High Commission.
Roles and
responsibilities:

To manage the High Commissioner’s office and diary, maintaining the highest
possible standards

Ensure the smooth running of the Residence, including requesting and overseeing
technical works, line managing Residence Staff, managing visits and events

To act as Consular Assistant and cover for the Pro-Consul when not in office

Manage visits by the Defence Attaché and other FCO staff

Support UK-based staff with organizing travels

Champion Learning and Development for staff- Administration of the local staff
medical scheme;

Work on HR related issues at the High Commission, in partnership with the
regional HR hub.

General office support, including managing the supply of official stationary
from London.
Resources managed:

Manage 2 staff at the Residence (housekeeper and cook), S3 grade

Oversee and manage budget for entertainment at the Residence

Skills / experience /
qualifications required:

Advance level of English and Kinyarwanda language

The candidate must have minimum 2 years’ experience in PA or equivalent role

S/he must be eligible to work and live in Rwanda

Very good communicator (written and oral)

Excellent computer skills (MS word and Excel)

Motivated, efficient and organized

Excellent team player

Strong people management skills

Strong budget management skills

Must have finished high school, a university degree will be an advantage

Must be able to work occasional evening and weekends when there are events or
visits at the Residence

Experience Managing a Residence is a desirable
NOTE:
