The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Haematologist to join the team.

The position involves providing
both clinical and laboratory-based Haematology services to the North West
Cancer Centre (NWCC),Hospital and Pathology Lab.

This is a key leadership role in the area of clinical malignant haematology
including the development of the clinical trials capacity of the department.

You will provide clinical services to inpatients and outpatients in haematology
and general medicine at the Cancer Centre and Hospital, and laboratory based
haematology services to Pathology North, also located on the Hospital campus.

This includes overseeing blood film and bone marrow reporting and specialised
areas of the haematology laboratory in collaboration with the other
Haematologists.

You will also provide supervision of pathology registrars and scientific staff
and participate on the on-call roster at the Hospital.

The Hospital:
The Hospital has 288 beds and is the major Rural Referral Hospital providing a
high level of Surgical and Medical services.

A $220 million redevelopment, further enhancing its facilities, services and
excellence in health care is currently underway and due for completion in 2016.

This includes redevelopment of acute services including a new 8 operating
theatre complex, ED, ICU and other acute medical and surgical services.

Skills & Qualifications
required:

1. Medical degree registrable with the Medical Board of Australia

2. Fellowship Royal College of
Pathologists of Australasia or Fellowship Royal

3. Australasian College of
Physicians or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff
Specialist (State) Award or Health Insurance Act 1973

4. Ability to provide tertiary
standard clinical haematology and general medical services

5. A strong commitment to
multidisciplinary teamwork, guideline development and outcome measurement,
along with highly developed communication skills with patients and staff

6. Willingness to participate
equitably in the department’s on-call roster

7. Demonstrated commitment to
teaching and training at both undergraduate and post- graduate level

8. Involvement in quality
improvement and research programmes and ability to work in a computerised
environment utilising the clinical software systems used by the organisation.
