Regional Trails Coordinator Job Vacancy in Singapore

The Muskoka Trails Council (MTC) is a voice for Muskoka-wide trails initiatives and works to enhance the availability and enjoyment of trails by Muskoka residents and visitors. In cooperation with community partners, the MTC promotes healthy active lifestyles and contributes toward building sustainable rural and urban communities throughout Muskoka. The MTC is offering support, mentorship and fair compensation to an enthusiastic, self motivated individual to help us achieve our goals.

Job Description:
• Help to plan and execute Muskoka Trails events including Muskoka’s Amazing Race, other events and specialty walks and hikes as they are developed;
• Maintain and develop the overall connectivity of Muskoka Trails through the use of social media including website, Facebook and Twitter;
• Foster partnerships with other related organizations including Bed & Breakfasts (B&Bs), local hotels, inns, motels and restaurants with the intent of further contributing to economic development in the Muskoka area;
• Network and create relationships with community leaders at the District Municipality of Muskoka and the six participating municipalities in Muskoka, developing the volunteer base, & ensuring accuracy of available material for trail use during festivals and other sport tourism events;
• Create public relations tools, marketing and promotional material that will further enhance the use of trails leading to increased economic activity;
• Plan training programs, workshops and conferences that will attract visitation to the area, further promoting the trails as an economic asset to the Muskoka region;
• Promote availability of trail maps, including those in a Global Positioning Systems downloadable format, and;
• Work with the Board on the Sustainability Model for Rural Trails, Active Transportation in the Muskoka region and research funding opportunities that could further enrich the Muskoka Trail Networks as an economic generator.

Qualifications: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, event planning experience, strong organizational skills, marketing and PR experience, web site management ability, extremely self-motivated, self-starter, creative, an understanding of public health and Active Transportation, a familiarity with Ontario trails networks, a valid Driver’s License, access to a reliable vehicle, Microsoft Office, Internet and Email, related experience in Trails and Recreation an asset, related University or College Degree is essential, previous volunteer experience an asset, a passion for outdoor activities is appreciated.

Other Details: Who is eligible? Unemployed or underemployed candidates (under the age of 30) who have graduated with a degree or diploma from a post secondary institution within the last three years, are legally entitled to work in Canada, and have not been previously employed under a FedNor Youth Internship funding Agreement, or other Federal or Provincial Internship with pay for a period of six (6) months or more.

This full-time, one-year contract position is partially funded by FedNor’s Youth Internship Program.
