services to children and young people under the care and protection of the
Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services.

focus on the assessment and delivery of individual programs

As a Relief Residential Care Worker, you will be
required to:

- Attend to the daily care needs of children and
young people; - Provide therapeutic support and guidance;
- Facilitate the operation of the residential
household including cleaning, cooking and other relevant tasks; - Support and promote social, emotional,
behavioural and developmental learning of children and young people;
and - Operate strongly within a teamwork approach
to ensure consistency and provide support.
As children and young people
within residential care often display challenging and complex behaviours
and emotional processing difficulties, you will need to possess
experience within the residential care field and have resilience and
confidence in dealing with such matters.

To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- Relevant prior experience within the field;
- A strong level of resilience and an ability to
remain calm in times of crisis and high pressure; - Knowledge and understanding of the
developmental needs of children and young people, traume and resulting
emotional and behavioural issues; - Knowledge of legislation, policy and issues
relating to children and young people involved with the Department of
Communities, Child Safety Services, Youth Justice and Disability Services
QLD; - A valid Queensland Driver’s Licence; and
- An Apply First Aid Certificate.
Applicants must ideally hold (have the ability to
obtain):

- Qualifications within the youth work, social
work, psychology or behavioural sciences areas
are required (minimum Certificate IV qualification); - A valid Working with Children Check (Blue
Card) from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child
Guardian; and - A Positive Suitability Check.
You will be required to use your own
vehicle in undertaking relevant duties and therefore must hold comprehensive
car insurance.

Wages – $24.58 – $27.09 per hour plus casual
loading, allowances and weekend penalty rates
