Opportunity description
Youth
Challenge International (YCI) is recruiting a team of three Youth Ambassadors
between the ages of 18 and 35 with diverse skills, experiences, and backgrounds
for a six-week focused youth development project in Tanzania from July 1 to
August 12, 2014.
This exciting
opportunity will include a pre-project distance-learning program, followed by
an intensive six-week placement in Tanzania. While in Arusha, you will work
with the Umoja Centre to further the reach and relevance of their youth
development programs.
Key Project
Activities May Include:
• Conduct professional skills training, including public-speaking, resume and
career development, needs assessments, community development, and project
planning for young leaders
• Provide functional English class
es targeted on specific job skills
• Engage youth in community initiatives, opportunities, and activities to
mobilize and promote youth leadership in community with a focus on Water
Sanitation and Health (WASH), Health and Nutrition activities
Recommended
Skills and Experience:
• Background in education, development or the humanities
• Experience in facilitation and/or community mobilization
• Experience working with youth and/or youth employability programs
• Training in gender issues; proven effectiveness in cross-cultural settings
• Experience with edutainment, theatre, and other community arts
• Prior overseas experience an asset
