PLEASE NOTE:
This position supports the Departments of Film and Theatre in the Faculty of
Fine Arts, soon to be the School of the Arts, Media, Performance and Design.
Purpose: Reporting to the Executive
Officer and accountable to the Chairs in the Departments of Film and Theatre,
the Manager, Operations is responsible for the management of a range of
departmental resources including non-academic staff, space and equipment. This
role provides leadership and support to the Chairs in developing and
implementing strategies for the operational aspects of academic program
delivery. Major responsibilities include areas such as: Leadership, Operational
Management, Facilities and Equipment, Budget, Special Projects, Health and
Safety.
Education:
Diploma in arts
administration / arts management or equivalent education and experience (such
as multiple years managing in an arts environment). University degree in Fine
Arts, particularly Film or Theatre would be considered an asset.
Experience:
Minimum three (3)
years progressive experience in arts administration and management of staff,
with preference given to those whose management experience is within unionized
environment. Experience working in an educational setting is an asset.
Skills:
Demonstrated
expertise in one or more of the following: Film (Cinema production and
post-production), Live performances. Thorough knowledge of current health and
safety standards and principles and their practical applications in a teaching
environment, and live performance environment leadership skills; demonstrated
ability to work effectively as part of a team; demonstrated excellent
interpersonal skills including flexibility, discretion, diplomacy, tact,
judgement; excellent organizational and management skills; proven ability to
exercise good judgement and initiative; excellent oral and written
communication skills; knowledge of purchasing and budgeting and contract
processes. Excellent database and spreadsheet management skills.
