World Vision Ghana (WVG) is
looking for a highly qualified, proactive, and motivated person to fill the
position of Project
Officer – Literacy Boost. 

Purpose of the
Position

To coordinate the implementation
and monitoring of Literacy
Boost (LB) 
projects within the two APs through capacity
building, networking, partnership and participation of children and community
leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out needs assessment and reviews in communities to
    determine development interventions that are required and are consistent
    with World Vision Ghana strategic plan.
  • Ensure direct implementation of and/or make sure that
    different LB initiatives related to components are being implemented
    effectively.
  • Build capacity of volunteers, communities, and partners
    and other partners in Education on literacy initiatives.
  • Participate in children monitoring in communities to
    ensure participation of children and their families in literacy boost
    community action activities.
  • Establish and maintain contact with other organizations,
    or other groups doing similar activities to explore opportunities to
    improve project implementation.
  • Ensure implementation of Audit and Risk Assessment
    recommendations in Literacy Boost projects and their impact areas within
    the cluster.
  • Facilitate and report (monthly, quarterly, semi-annually
    and annually) on literacy projects outputs and outcomes in communities.
The
Package
    • The position is based in Afram
      Plains / Fanteakwa with some amount of domestic travel.
    • The position comes with an
      attractive salary package
    • S/He reports to the Project
      Coordinator.

Required Skills or
Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education with English, Twi or
    linguistics or Early Childhood.
  • Professional technical skill desired
  • Experience: At least three (3) years in the similar
    field and development facilitation.

Competencies

  • Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above
    denominational diversities.
  • Proven ability to communicate on Education and Life
    Skills topics with diverse groups i.e. GES at the local levels, Partners,
    etc.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to support in the development and roll out of
    Education and Life Skills programs/projects.
  • Good development and facilitation skills, including
    catalyzing, connecting, and building the capacity of community groups/
    partners.
  • Strong communicator at all levels with interpersonal
    skills, ability and commitment to listen to others.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the empowerment of the poor in
    rural communities.
  • Working knowledge of programs/projects cycle management.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with
    staff and key partners.
  • Experience in community entry and mobilization and
    development facilitation.
  • Working knowledge of proposal writing and negotiation
    skills.
