World Vision Child Protection Specialist Job Vacancy in Rwanda

Our client World Vision is a Christian, Child focused, Humanitarian, Development, Relief and Advocacy implementing projects/programmes in over 14 Districts of Rwanda and is seeking to recruit result driven and motivated individuals for the vacancy above;

Job objective:
Contribute to the implementation/achievement of the Partnership Vision through integration and implementation of child rights and protection program that will ensure the well being of children.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop a strategic plan for Child protection of WVR in line with World Vision Rwanda and the Government of Rwanda strategic directions.
• Ensure that legal requirements are respected in all WVR internal and external transactions
• Ensure that contractual obligations with staff and other partners meet the legal requirements and protect the organization against potential litigation issues.
• Build the capacity of staff to understand basic legal requirements.
• Identify Child Protection issues within World Vision Rwanda operational areas and develop a plan to respond to them in collaboration with other internal and external partners.
• Identify resources for child protection programs to support child protection initiatives including technical capacity of partners in the area of child rights promotion and protection.
• Create awareness among staff and partner communities on child rights/protection issues
• Ensure that any child abuse cases are properly managed according to WV international standards
• Make sure that the rights of children and their well-being are given priority within WVR strategic and operational aspects.
• Create or maintain close working relations with the relevant government ministries, UNICEF and other NGOs working in the area of protection of children
• Support establishment of community structures to promote child rights and protection
• Undertake research on child rights issues in the four aspects (survival, development, participation and protection) and ensure the results seek inform programming to respond to identified issues
• Provide input related to child protection and advocacy into DME activities
• Document and share lessons from child protection best programming practices
• Support the setting up of child protection monitoring system in all programs and projects
• Ensure that World Vision Rwanda top leadership is informed of child rights/protection issues and how they are being addressed
• Ensure all staff, volunteers and interns file include their Police Background Check before official signing of their employment/internship contracts

Qualification and Skills:
• University degree in law, social sciences, international relations or relevant field
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive work experience in socio-economic development, policy analysis, research and international child or human rights related programming
• Specialized training or 3years experience in human rights in general and in child rights in particular and their application and implementation.
• Practical experience in child protection work and legal support
• Proven ability to conceptualize, innovate and plan strategically
• Good working knowledge of English
• Good computer and Internet skill
• Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities
