Note: This is a one-year co-terminus ETC renewable appointment for one additional year. The Global Partnership for Education is a global partnership launched in 2002 of donors and developing countries , multilateral institutions and civil society organizations, dedicated to ensuring that all children receive quality basic education . It aims to achieve Education for All by efficiently using international and national resources and matching donors’ priorities with developing |

Duties and Accountabilities | 
| 
The consultant’s work includes (but is not limited to) tasks as described below. Work program can be modified as new demand for additional tasks emerge. 
  Lead on engagement with civil society partners, teachers and private foundations/private sector partners. 
  Develop engagement strategy for civil society and lead on its implementation. 
  Manage the tracking and reporting of pledges by all partners received at the November 2011 Pledging Conference in Copenhagen and any subsequent pledges (working closely with the Global Good Practice Team). 
  Manage assessment of donor contributions to the Partnership’s $8 billion overall funding target from 2011-2014. This will involve significant interaction with Partners, often at a senior level. 
  Within the EAC team sphere of responsibilities, improve or establish relationships with development banks and other international organizations . 
  Prepare research papers, reports and other documents as required by the EAC team. 
  Act as something of a translator of more academic and technical pieces of work produced by the Secretariat so they can be communicated clearly and understandably to a wider audience. 
  Prepare briefing as required.  
  Assist as required in the preparations for fundraising and profile-lifting events. 
  Assist other parts of the Secretariat in the preparation of policy and strategy documents as required. 
  Contribute to political advocacy as appropriate and global “soft” campaign strategies that the Global Partnership engages in. 
  Assist Global Good Practice Unit in the reporting of outcomes from the Mutual Accountability Framework. 
  Other assignments as required.  
  The Consultant will be required to travel extensively and engage with senior levels of donor and partner governments, civil society organizations and other Global Partnership members. |

Selection Criteria  | 
| 
  Masters degree or equivalent in a relevant field of study (development studies, international relations , public policy, information systems or technology, economics or other related fields). Solid experience in international development issues, especially the education sector. Knowledge of the education sector is essential for this position. 
  Strong knowledge of and commitment to the principles of the Global Partnership for Education. 
  Experience in communicating with government and other partners, including bilateral donors, multilateral organizations, academic institutions and non-governmental organizations . 
  Direct experience of working with civil society organizations. 
  Ability to work well in a small team, operate under pressure, deliver high-quality work within deadlines, and meet team objectives. 
  Demonstrated strength in written and oral communications. 
  Demonstrated strength in international development policy. 
  Advanced analytical and research skills.  
  Experience of working on a major fundraising campaign, including direct engagement at a senior political and institutional level. Note: Only applicants selected for interviews will be contacted.
