health and wellbeing. WCHM believes that the environment and life circumstances
which each woman experiences affects her health outcomes, known as the social determinants
of health, not just the presence of disease.
WCHM focuses on areas of possible disadvantage and uses research, community
development and health promotion to provide women with access to reliable and
broad ranging health-related information which allows informed choices to be
made about each woman’s own health and wellbeing, and to advocate to influence
change in health-related services to ensure responsiveness to women’s needs.
The Project Worker will be responsible for contributing to the early project
design for a specific technology project as well as managing some events and
public awareness initiatives for WHCM.
The position is a temporary part-time for approximately 30 hours per fortnight
for 16 weeks between the hours of 9am – 5pm (or as negotiated with the
Executive Director). The position works under the general direction of and is
responsible to the Executive Director. It is a genuine occupational
qualification to be female for this position.
The salary will be paid at the Modern Social and Community Services (SaCS)
Award Grade 6 (level 1).
Essential Criteria:
• Good conceptual skills and an understanding of the possibilities for the use
of technology for engaging the community.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience in
communicating complex messages to a diverse range of people.
• Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with external stakeholders and/or
community groups.
• Experience in project management.
• A commitment to the mission, values and vision of the Women’s Centre for
Health Matters.
Highly Desirable Criteria:
• Understanding of and experience working with technology as an enabler t
market and communicate.
• Experience in media, health promotion, education, and/or communications.
• Experience in event management and coordination.
• A current driver’s licence.
