USIAS Research Fellowships for International Applicants in France

The
new University of Strasbourg Institute for Advanced Study Fellowships are now
on offer open to researchers in any field for the year 2018. USIAS welcomes
excellent researchers from all countries and disciplinary backgrounds in
residence.

The
objective of the fellowship is to provide opportunities for excellent
researchers to conduct independent research and explore new ideas and
approaches.

The
University of Strasbourg Institute for Advanced Study (USIAS) was created in
2012 to fund excellent, original research in all scientific domains and to
serve as a place of intellectual innovation.

Study
Subject:
The fellowships are open to researchers in any field (life sciences, natural
sciences and social sciences and humanities), with a doctorate or comparable
degree currently employed at the level of at least a tenured assistant
professor (or equivalent).

Scholarship
Award:
Fellowships are granted for a period of minimum 3 and maximum 24 months, and
are expected to start during the period 01/05/2018 – 01/12/2018. Joint
fellowships can be submitted, with a maximum of three applicants for any one
project. The budget will be need-based, taking into account the differing
requirements of different disciplines. The upper limit is 200k€.

Number
of Scholarships:
Each year, the Institute selects 10-20 fellows for a period of between three
months to two years.

Eligibility: The following
criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the
scholarship:

order to reach these objectives, USIAS welcomes excellent researchers from
all countries and disciplinary backgrounds in residence.
Fellowships
are available to both promising young scholars and excellent advanced
researchers from outside of Strasbourg, wishing to carry out research in
collaboration with researchers at the University of Strasbourg and/or to
use a specific Strasbourg research facility.
In
addition, excellent researchers already based at the University of
Strasbourg wishing to work on particularly original research ideas,
seeking to apply their knowledge and skills to new domains outside of
their current field of work, are welcome to apply, especially when jointly
with an external collaborator.

Applications
must be submitted online in English by the deadline of 2 October 2017
(13.00 CET). All uploaded documents should be in PDF format, using
the templates and file names provided. The format for
documents is 12 pt font, 2.5 cm for all margins, and single line-spacing.

on the filename: please replace the text in brackets with your family
name. E.g. 2018_[Family name of Applicant]_CV => 2018_GARCIA_CV

Note
on the templates: all text given in brackets in the template serves as
guidance for applicants and should be replaced by the applicant. E.g. in the
template for the proposal, replace [name of applicant1] with the name
of the applicant. For example, if the applicant’s name is Roger
Garcia, the name of the file with the project proposals will
become 2018_Garcia_proposal. In case there is more than one
applicant, please use the name of the person who is listed as the first
applicant in the online application form, this is the applicant who will be the
correspondent for the application.

Applicant information (DOC)
required of all applicants; in case of more than one applicant for one
project, the three items of applicant information (CV, track record and
grant information) should be provided per applicant (in order),
and the information of all applicants of the project should be saved
together in one document in pdf format.
