Help Desk Analyst/PC LAN Technician
Abbotsford, BC

Duties & Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Manager, Instructional Technology & Client Support, the Help Desk Analyst/PC Lan Technician will provide technical support to the UFV community. The duties of this position will be divided equally between the operation of the Information Technology Services Help Desk and PC LAN Technician. Duties include diagnosing and providing solutions for complex personal computer hardware and software problems over the telephone; entry, tracking and reporting of work orders; analyzing desktop and laptop network connectivity issues; installing and administering client network services and workstation support.

Qualifications
Post secondary diploma in computer technology or a related field plus a minimum two years experience in the computer technical support field. Experience in a networked PC environment (TCP/IP, Ethernet network equipment, either Novell or Microsoft) and with a wide range of software and operating systems (including Windows 2000/XP, Microsoft Office, Email Clients etc. ) is required. Proficiency with installation and maintenance of computer operating systems, hardware, software and peripherals will be required as well. The successful candidate must have excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills. Experience in a Help Desk or Call Centre environment required.

This position will include shift work on a rotating basis encompassing daytime and evening coverage.
