UN Children’s Fund Youth Empowerment and Social Cohesion Volunteer Job Vacancy in Liberia

The Volunteer will be based in Monrovia and located in the Child Protection section of UNICEF, with direct supervision from the ‘Youth Empowerment and Social Cohesion’ expert (Peacebuilding Advisor). The Volunteer will provide technical support to the following programmatic areas:

THE JOINT PROGRAM FOR YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND EMPLOYMENT (JPYEE)
– Guide implementing partners in the review and implementation of peacebuilding, leadership, life skills activities including the formation of District Peace Committees, advocacy campaigns with local drama and peace club groups, and capacity building in conflict resolution and early warning.
– Guide implementing partners in the up-scaling of peacebuilding and leadership training modules in four counties and fourteen new communities that target at-risk communities and female peer educators.
– Support implementing partners in obtaining best practices in programme implementation of the youth empowerment component of the JPYEE targeting adolescents and youth.
– To actively participate in the appropriate consultative processes that take place with key stakeholders and UN agencies in Liberia working in the area of peacebuilding, youth empowerment and employment.
– Foster collaboration with, and make linkages to, other implementing partners and participating agencies to the JPYEE. -Provide technical assistance to GoL and other stakeholders and attend meetings relevant to Youth employment and empowerment priority areas in the development of the PRS II and National Visioning ‘Liberia Rising 2030’ plan and consequent activities.
-Youth Center development, including Youth Center Management, in partnership with the MoYS in ten Youth Centers nationwide; including resource mobilization and operations.

LIBERIA PEACEBUILDING PROGRAMME (LPP) DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION
-Attend relevant consultations, meetings, and workshops with the UN, Government of Liberia, and Civil Society partners specific to Peacebuilding Commission engagement and LPP Reconciliation Youth component under the National Youth Service Program (NYSP).
-Foster collaboration with, and make linkages to, other implementing partners and participating agencies with regard to PBC programming development and implementation under the National Youth Service Program in the areas of Education, Health, Agriculture and Youth Center development.
-Conduct Mapping and Assessment exercise and advanced planning for new project development and implementation based on guidelines specified in the LPP, including the addition of a Business and Technical skills component of the NYSP.
-Monitoring and Evaluation; development of indicators and baseline survey questions of new programme/project activities and regularly assess the processes and outcome/impact in order to give strategic guidance for improvement of implementation and to ensure high-quality of programme delivery under the LPP.
