The Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) was established by statutory mandate in 1991 following the liberalization of the coffee industry. The Statute mandates UCDA to: “oversee the coffee industry by supporting research, promoting production, controlling the quality and improving the marketing of coffee in order to optimise foreign exchange earnings for the country and payments to farmers”. In order to fulfill its mandate, UCDA wishes to recruit self-motivated and committed persons to fill the following positions;
ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT -1 vacancy
Department: Finance and Administration
Reports to: The Principal Accountant
Job Summary: To manage finances, recognize revenue and prepare payments in line with approved financial management policies and procedures
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manage debtors, and prepare and deliver invoices to them
2. Ensure timely posting of receipts and payments onto the accounting system
3. Manage and update the fixed assets register
4. Manage petty cash and make petty cash returns weekly
5. Prepare periodical summaries of revenue and expenditure
6. Prepare bi-weekly check runs and reconcile supplier accounts
7. Reconcile all bank accounts
Job requirement
Minimum Requirements:
The successful applicant must possess:
1. A bachelor’s degree (hons) in Commerce, Accounting and Finance, Business Administration (accounting option), or Business Computing,
2. A minimum of 2 years’ working experience “a similar position,
3. Good communication and analytical skills, and the ability work independently.
