100km Foods Inc. is an award winning 100% local food distribution company in Toronto, Ontario. We provide a direct connection between chefs, caterers and retailers in Toronto and producers in Ontario to purchase, sell and distribute locally grown food directly from farms to customers in Toronto. In 2010 100km Foods Inc. was awarded the Ontario Premier’s Award of Excellence in Agri-Food Innovation for the creation of a distribution model which supports the growth of the local food economy in Ontario.
Our customers include many of Toronto’s premier fine dining establishments, top hotels, and specialty retailers.
We are looking for a hard working, reliable, organized, and personable individual to drive a delivery vehicle full time in both Metro Toronto and surrounding farmland. The candidate’s primary responsibility is to ensure the timely and safe delivery of customer orders, while observing all “hi-way traffic act rules of the road” and safety regulations.
Job Description:
• Drive to farms within approximately 100km distance from Toronto and load food for transport back to central depot in Toronto
• Unload and organize food at central depot and store items in proper storage locations
• Load trucks with food to be delivered so that it is easily accessible for unloading along the predetermined delivery route
• Make deliveries to 100km Foods Inc. customers in Toronto and provide excellent customer service at all times
• Perform preventative maintenance and other driving duties such as: performing daily vehicle circle checks prior to driving, completion of daily vehicle log, reporting any malfunctions to manager
• Maintain cleanliness of vehicle and warehouse loading and storage areas
Knowledge and Requirements:
• Valid Ontario driver’s license with a clean abstract
• Delivery experience operating a cube van or larger
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Experience in use of hand truck/dolly type equipment
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Excellent geographic knowledge of Metro Toronto routes
• Customer service oriented, excellent communication skills
• Reliable, personable and organized
• Completion of Food Handler’s Certificate and/or knowledge of food and its handling and distribution an asset
Salary:
• $15/hour for a approximately 40 hours per week. Candidate must be able to work with flexible work hours.
