Communications Intern

and workers, as well as elected officials, encouraging the participation of

TEA is recognized locally and nationally for our municipal work on climate
change, waste reduction, toxics reduction, transit, Greenbelt protection,
energy efficiency and green power — issues we believe are critical to the
health and well-being of Toronto residents. Our collaborations with the
community (eg. community groups, local labour groups, small businesses,
anti-poverty groups) are cherished and key to our past and future successes.
Position:
Digital Communications Intern position is designed to provide support in the
development and management of TEA’s digital communications to help engage TEA
supporters and the general public. In order to qualify for this internship, you
must be below the age of 30 and a recent graduate who is unemployed or
under-employed.
Hours: 37.5 per week
Pay: $16.00/hr

Responsibilities:
- Helping
to develop social media and website content for campaigns and projects,
working with relevant staff on digital strategy - Daily
monitoring and scanning of social media (with guidance from relevant staff
for content) - Preparing
and posting content on project websites related to specific campaigns and
assisting with other website updates and maintenance - Proof-reading
and editing copy for social media and blog posts, as well as print
publications - Preparing
infographics and/or other visual content to be used on our website and
other materials - Assisting
other staff with member communications and creative new engagement
strategies - Other
duties as required
- Experience
and/or education in communications, writing, social media, or marketing,
preferably in the non-profit sector - Knowledge
of digital communications including social media platforms - Interest/knowledge
of environmental issues - Strong
written and verbal communication skills - Strong
interest and/or awareness in environmental issues - Experience
with graphic design, Adobe Photoshop, videography, web-based design
programs, HTML, and/or digital mapping would be a strong asset.
successful candidate will gain experience working with TEA’s database
NationBuilder, and also build skills related to digital communications within a
non-profit setting.

for projects using Google Maps and NationBuilder tools.
