SUMMARY OF FUNCTION
As a Coordinator for the Professional Access & Integration Enhancement (PAIE) bridge training program for internationally trained Engineers and Geoscientists, you will assist program clients to gain Canadian work experience opportunities in their field through employer recruitment and professional employment counselling. You will work closely with TRCA and project staff, partners, contractors and external employers in the delivery of this project. This position is based in our Downsview office with some travel required in the GTA.
KNOWLEDGE
• Post secondary degree in Human Resources, Marketing, Communications, Business, Engineering, Geoscience, Environmental Science or related discipline or equivalent experience in career counseling, job development, and/or employment services
• Ability to network effectively, develop strong partnerships and foster positive relations with multiple stakeholders, particularly employers and hiring managers
• Experience delivering employment services to a diverse client group
• Experience assisting employers with meeting their hiring needs
• Excellent skills required in project planning, coordination and execution; marketing and outreach; presentations/public speaking; problem solving; professional communication (written and verbal); interpersonal and intercultural communication
• Knowledge and experience in adult learning approaches and experience developing and/or facilitating job search and/or workplace communication curriculum an asset
• Self motivated, detail-oriented, highly organized, and enjoys working in a team environment
• Familiarity with and effective use of social media an asset
• Proficient in MS Office 2010
• Current knowledge of immigration and labour market trends, as well as the environmental, engineering, and/or geoscience sector an asset
• Ability to work days and flexible to work some evening and weekend hours as required
• Ability to travel in the GTA and a valid Ontario driver’s license
EXAMPLE OF MAJOR TASKS
• Identify and recruit employers to provide paid work experience opportunities for clients in their professional field
• Develop and implement an effective marketing, communications, outreach, and networking strategy that will result in professional employment opportunities for clients
• Ensure proper matching of participants with employers with respect to both technical and soft skills
• Monitor and evaluate work placements for successful outcomes in employment and licensing & provide coaching and support to both the employer and program participant as needed
• Assist with recruitment and selection of participants for the program and delivery of orientation sessions
• Provide clients with on-going coaching and employment counseling with respect to effective resumes, interviews, job search strategies, employer communications, etc. for the purpose of increasing their employability
• Assist with coordination of workshops and field trips, identify suitable content and recruit classroom and field instructors to develop and deliver training as needed
• Build and foster positive relations with program partners and stakeholders
• Assist with coordination of program events
• Assist with the development of online training modules and monitoring/updating of website and social media outlets
• Assist with program reporting (qualitative and quantitative) on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
• Assist with managing subcontracts, program budget and audit processes
• Assist in developing a strategy for revenue-generation and long-term program sustainability
