“The rapper Jay Z is Rwandan”; after Beyoncé’s lyrics, now social media explodes.

Whether it’s just a random rhyme, or it’s true that American rapper Jay Z could have roots in the land of thousands  of hills, life on Rwandan social media will never be the same again after singer Beyoncé has outed her recent album.

On the album dubbed, “The Lion King: The Gift”, Beyoncé Giselle Knowles- Carter, the American superstar, seems to suggest that her “baby father” has a bloodline in Rwanda in the song titled “Mood 4 Eva”.

“I’m so unbothered, I’m so unbothered

Y’all be so pressed while I’m raisin’ daughters

Sons of empires, y’all make me chuckle

Stay in your struggle, crystal blue water

Piña colada-in’, you stay Ramada Inn

My baby father, bloodline Rwanda

Why would you try me? Why would you bother?

I am Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter” reads a verse from the song, in which she features her husband Jay Z  and Childish Gambino.

Since the track’s lyrics came out on the 12th on her fresh album, social media has been overwhelmed with Rwandans thinking Jay Z could be Rwandan

Some claimed that the billionaire rapper’s relatives could be lost, while hundreds of memes depicting Jay Z as  Rwandans were posted .

In one case, a photoshopped national ID with Jay Z’s image allegedly Rwandan- named “Jacques Zirasunda” circulated on social media platforms, while in other  instances videos featuring comedian Kanyombya questioned  Jay Z as to whether  Kinyarwanda had been forgotten.

Rwandans laughed at other fun posts about how a typical Rwandan Jay Z would be  behaving if he were in Rwanda.

While Jay Z or Beyoncé have yet to provide more information on the bloodline tale, many social media Rwandans  have taken it upon themselves to ‘ Rwandanise ‘  the American rapper, considered to be the most successful self- made artists with a net worth more than $1 billion.

“Jay Z should also be given a Salax Award as they did to Stromae,” joked a one Yves Kamanzi,  While Jean Baptiste Micomyiza, another commentator, requested that the rapper reveal his lineage to locate his ancestral roots in  Rwanda

Another user asked the Head of State and government organizations to do ‘ some   digging up ‘ to find out whether the ‘ Holy Grail ‘ rapper actually has origins in Rwanda, while another use believed that the music power couple could be brought in to enhance  the ‘ Visit Rwanda ‘ .

The social media platform conversation attracted not only Rwandans, but people from   different parts of the continent as well.

“The first billionaire rapper in the world is from Rwanda…Jay Z”, tweeted Mercello Chuks Kelechi, while Robert Niyirora joked that in Jay Z, Rwanda now has a billionaire.

The newly released album of Beyoncé features several stars including, among others, Wizkid, her husband Jay Z, her daughter Blue Ivy, Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, Tierra Whack, Pharrell Williams, Burna Boy, Tekno, Tiwa  Savage, Mr Eazi and 070  Shake.

Just Blaze, Beyoncé & DJ Khaled produced the song “Mood 4 Eva.” The album accompanies the movie                     “The Lion King” that stars Beyoncé in the epic video ‘ Spirit, ‘  the soundtrack of the movie.

The America superstar in the remake of the Lion King voices the adult lioness Nala. She released the lead single of the album “Spirit” before the release of the film, causing  a pandemonium in her legion of fans known as the  “Beyhive.”
