MISS J’s relationship with music began with the sounds coming through her father’s boombox. Growing up on classic rock, she was introduced early to artists such as Cream, The Doobie Brothers, and The Doors, whose raw energy became part of her musical foundation.
Her influences expanded through her sister’s love of alternative and punk-infused acts including Sublime, The Movielife, and 311. MISS J’s own inspirations stretched even further from Jim Morrison and Joan Jett to Aaliyah and the pulse of disco.
Rather than choosing between those different sounds, she allowed them to become part of the same creative language.
Her artistic evolution accelerated after discovering the festival scene. There, MISS J found inspiration in combining the hypnotic grooves of deep house with the grit and attitude of hard rock.
