The Managers Attitude towards Noise Pollution

Unuraye (2008) stated that, the control
and management can be one through implementation of laws gathering noise
pollution in Nigeria. Overtime, the federal government, through the ministry of
environment, provides the funding and the advice and also updates their
regulation on noise pollution. They should stimulate fund and it health
implication to the people and also help the development qualifier products and
effective noise control measures.

Unuraye (2008) furthermore stated that
government should conduct baseline studies (BLS) environmental planning and
ethics (EPE) environmental impact assessment (EIA). These studies Unuraye quotes
NAPETCOR, NNPC (1998), would help to put a place effective system of pollution
control.
There is also the need for complement
engineering control with administrative control workers who have stayed in a
high noises level of the minimum duration per-day should be made to work in an
environment with a noise level below 85 db for the rest of the day’s work.
Employer should be arranging to run short time operation for few days in the
weeks rather operate equipment throughout the week.
Noise monitoring should be performed by
the occupational health department, the use of personal protective equipment
e.g ear muff or ear plug should be encouraged.
Unuraye (2008) also stated that, expert
advocate that the role of regulatory agency such as the Federal Environmental
Protection Agency (FEPA). Inspectorate division of the environmental limit of
the local government areas should be supported and encouraged to effectively
regulate, monitor and imitate activities noise pollution control. Given the
very negative effects of noise on the public health and well-being, one would
expect the government to regulate the noise pollution and stringently as it
does others form of pollution.
Unfortunately, this is not the case
noise regulation in Nigeria has effectively fallen to other agencies within the
federal government to coordinate the noise abatement effort of other agencies
providing information to the pubic considering noise emission of products.
However, to protect the environment
from the adverse effect of noise pollution, effective regulation have to be
enacted and implemented to the later to regulate noise pollution and mitigate
the adverse effect of noise pollution.
