Eligibility:
The Guangzhou Award is open to all city and regional governments around the world, including members of UCLG and Metropolis. A project or practice that enters the competition for the Guangzhou Award should meet the following eligibility criteria:
i) It should involve original non-profit activity aimed at promoting social undertakings in the city or region.
ii) It must be currently running, or have been completed within the past two years.
iii) It must provide evidence of substantial impact and/or success achieved.

Scholarship Description: The Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation (abbreviated as “Guangzhou Award” hereafter) is awarded to innovative projects and practices in the public sector of cities and regions worldwide. Its objective is to recognize the importance of public sector innovation in promoting the socio-economic environment and sustainability of cities and regions and advancing the livelihood of their citizens.
What it covers: 2. The first Guangzhou Award will be in 2012, and it will be presented every two years to up to 5 projects or practices that will each receive a prize of US$20,000 as well as a trophy and a certificate. 3. The Guangzhou Award is co-hosted by United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), the World Association of the Major Metropolises (Metropolis), and the city of Guangzhou of the People’s Republic of China.
