Service Cook
The Green Elephant
Waterloo provides care for 69 children per day, the service is
easily accessible
by public transport. You will be responsible
for cooking and preparing meals for children aged birth to 5
years following a rotating 6 week menu.
The position is 5
days per week – 25 hours per w
eek. Starting September 2016
Responsibilities:
- Cook
from a pre planned menu that provides nutritionally balanced meals for
children 0-5 years and meeting Australian nutritional standards - Ensure
complete familiarity with special dietary needs of the children - Ensure
the service is a nut and pork free environment - Opportunity
to work with the children - Serving
and assisting children during meal times - Ensuring
a clean and hygienic environment - Washing
and cleaning up after meal times - Communicating
effectively with colleagues, children and their families - Ordering
kitchen supplies weekly

Desired
criteria:
- A
certificate in commercial cookery from TAFE (or equivalent) - Previous
experience in a child care service cooking for children and/ or experience
cooking in a commercial kitchen - Knowledge
of safety procedures and hygiene practices - Knowledge
of allergies, and intolerance that may be applicable to some children whom
you will be cooking for - The
ability to work with minimal supervision - The
ability to communicate effectively
