Overview of
Position:

The Website
Coordinator is a full-time position responsible for working with the
Communications Manager and team to increase the reach and impact of AWID’s
knowledge production and advoca

cy through strategic high quality online
communications. This is a new position primarily responsible for content
management of www.awid.org
and multilingual e-newsletters and email outreach. The incumbent will work
closely with AWID’s IT team for technical website support and a dedicated web
development company for ongoing website maintenance and support. The incumbent
will also coordinate closely with AWID´s Production and Program teams involved
in sourcing and producing content for the web and the periodic e-newsletters.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

At least 4-6 years
experience:

  • In an
    online communications role, preferably in a women’s rights or human
    rights/social justice setting
  • Implementing
    online communication strategies
  • Developing
    and managing content for a multilingual website
  • Coordinating
    website design and development projects
  • Managing
    and monitoring email newsletters and campaigns using an online email
    marketing program

Academic
Qualifications:

  • University
    degree in communications or related field

Expertise
& Skills:

  • Knowledge
    of internet culture and close familiarity with the tools and landscape of
    the online world
  • In-depth
    knowledge of open source content management systems; experience with
    Drupal strongly desired
  • Experience
    with Constituency Relationship Management Systems, preferably CiviCRM
  • Ability
    to measure web trends using tools such as Google Analytics and email
    outreach metrics
  • Bilingual
    in English and French or Spanish
  • Excellent
    project management skills
  • Proactive
    and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong
    problem-solving skills
  • Keen
    attention to detail
  • Strong
    interpersonal skills including strong verbal communication skills in
    English

Assets:

  • Training
    on women´s rights and gender equality or human rights
  • Experience
    in basic multimedia production for the web
  • Knowledge
    of online marketing techniques including best practices for SEO and SEM
  • Trilingual
    (English, French, Spanish)
  • Courses
    in writing for the web
  • Experience
    working in a decentralized, virtual organization

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overall
Online Communications

  • Contributes
    to the implementation of online communication strategies and plans
  • Tracks
    trends in website design and development and email outreach and
    proactively shares ideas for improvement to[[http:awid.org|awid.org]]
    and AWID’s e-newsletters and other emails.

Website

  • Maintains
    and oversees the overall functioning of www.awid.org and other AWID websites as needed.
  • In line
    with the website management guidelines, uploads regular content to[[http:awid.org|awid.org]] and
    other AWID websites and undertakes quality control of the daily content
    posted by AWID program teams.
  • Ensures
    all pages on[[http:awid.org|awid.org]]
    and other AWID websites contain up to date text and visuals as well as
    weekly featured content
  • Copy
    edits and/or drafts text for website landing pages and short introductions
    to content as needed following web writing best practices
  • Coordinates
    translations of short website texts as needed.
  • In line
    with agreed editorial priorities, highlights and cross promotes relevant
    content on website home, landing pages and others
  • In line
    with agreed priority audiences, find innovative ways to promote[[http:awid.org|awid.org]] and
    other AWID websites among existing AWID audience groups and online
    communities and develop new ways to reach out to new audiences.
  • Identifies
    website issues and coordinates their resolution with the IT team and
    website development agency. Does basic troubleshooting where possible.
  • Provides
    content management system support and training to relevant AWID staff as
    required
  • Acts as
    the main focal point for the website development agency
  • In
    close collaboration with the Communications Manager, plans and coordinates
    future development of the website based on overall AWID needs and specific
    program goals and in line with new technologies and CMS updates
  • In
    close collaboration with the Communications Manager, IT team and website
    development agency, contributes to the planning, development, design and
    launch of new AWID websites as needed.
  • Reviews
    statistics and monitors analytics, prepares regular monthly performance
    reports and prepares data for donor reporting purposes as needed.

E-Newsletters

  • Produces
    AWID’s weekly e-newsletters in multiple languagesand other occasional
    emails as required based on pre-selected content by AWID´s editorial team
  • Coordinates
    changes and future developments of the e-newsletters and email templates.
  • Reviews
    statistics and monitors performance of AWID´s weekly e-newsletters and
    other email outreach efforts.

Organizational
Processes and Individual Work Planning

  • Actively
    participates in the Communications team efforts including team meetings,
    biweekly coordination calls, and strategy and evaluation meetings
  • Maintains
    strong working relations with staff in other AWID teams to ensure
    accountability and effective coordination of website deliverables
  • Shares
    information/knowledge and actively participates in staff, and general
    organizational meetings
  • Develops
    and monitors an individual work plan that will document the timeline,
    requirements and deadlines for all tasks and deliverables
  • Maintains
    professional conduct, confidentiality and ethical standards
