Tetra Tech ARD Leader for Educational Development and Outreach Activities Job Vacancy in Liberia

Tetra Tech ARD (http://www.ardinc.com), a leading international development consulting firm based in Burlington, Vermont and Washington, D.C., is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified senior level candidates for a Leader for Educational Development and Outreach Activities on a multi-year USAID-
funded forest management and biodiversity program in West Africa. The program’s overall goal is to advance the policy and practice of forest resource management and biodiversity conservation in Liberia while supporting the development of livelihood alternatives to forest-dependent communities.

Responsibilities:
The primary role of the Leader for Educational Development and Outreach Activities will be to act as the leader for all educational development and public outreach activities under PROSPER, including direct supervision of staff as well as oversight of sub-contractors working on these activities. This individual will be a principal liaison for the program with the FDA, FTI, MOE, EPAL, MOA and others on all educational development and public outreach activities. The Leader for Educational Development and Outreach Activities also is expected to be able to act as a liaison with USAID/Liberia and all other public and private sector counterparts, implementing partners, and other donors involved with these aspects of the program. This individual shall monitor educational and outreach activities and keep the COP and DCOP apprised regarding issues of program management and implementation of educational and outreach related activities.

a) Education Requirements:
The Leader for Educational Development and Outreach Activities will have a Master’s degree or equivalent in educational development, particularly curriculum development, preferably in natural resources management.

b) Experience Requirements:
• Ten (10) years or more of progressively responsible work experience in developing vocational school curricula and training materials in support of environmental and natural resource protection and management, preferably in Africa
• Five (5) years or more of experience working with education ministries and other agencies of government preferably engaged in environmental and natural resource education
• Four (4) years of substantial managerial experience with international development programs
• Experience with public outreach programs is preferred
• Experience in primary school curriculum development desirable
• Experience in educational policy development to support environmental education desirable
• Experience with USAID programs is desirable
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The candidate shall be fluent in English.
• Experience in providing teacher training and developing teacher training methodologies for vocational education. Experience in outplacement support that improves internship and employment opportunities for students of vocational institutions.
• Proven ability to develop outreach campaigns to educate illiterate beneficiaries and measure behavioral change is desirable.
