looking for a highly motivated and experienced sub-editor ready to take Indian

Adept with the media and keen to enhance and develop a respected public
profile, you’ll be working alongside the editors and will have plenty of scope
to pitch ideas and develop your own editorial approach. With a national focus,
you will be a key contributor to the production process where re-writing or
re-structuring articles may be necessary.

Your main respons

ibility will be to support the existing editor to ensure our
audience gets fresh, engaging and relevant content in the newspaper and online
website articles. You’ll need to nurture existing contributor relationships and
seek out new expert writers and will work closely with the design department to
ensure layout and design follows the company’s vision and remains appropriate
to our target market.

The role also has a strong community management focus, with the successful
applicant keen to be highly active and engaged across our company’s online
social media channels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and sub edit articles according to style guidelines;
• Proactively improve and refresh content to enhance the reader’s experience
and drive sales;
• Manage the daily article schedule with multiple (and sometimes changing)
deadlines;


Review and update the contributor guidelines and processes;
• Compile and edit e-newsletters;
• Respond to media enquiries and participate in our ongoing PR activities;
• Contribute to our social media strategy: creating content and managing
Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest page;
• Represent Indian Link at functions in Sydney from time to time.

What we’re looking for

Naturally you’ll be a gifted writer and editor, and in addition, we’ll be looking
for someone who:

• Has a flair for conveying your ideas in a concise manner while employing
impeccable sub-editing skills;

• Enjoys bouncing ideas around a small team in the constant pursuit of a
stronger, larger community.

• Is willing to embrace new technologies and who is totally comfortable with
content management systems, cloud based applications and social networking
processes.

Required experience:

• Have proven experience in online copy writing or sub-editing, but we’re
flexible in which industry or media type you achieved this;

• Have a cursory knowledge of core design programs: Adobe InDesign, Photoshop,
Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat as well as FTP uploading;

• Experience working in a busy and pressured environment with strong time management
skills;

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are critical;


Must have website management experience, WordPress preferred.
