Sole Food Street Farms is seeking a driven, self-motivated and experienced
Managing Director to join our team in September 2016.

Sole Food Street Farms transforms vacant urban land into farms that grow
artisan quality fruits and vegetables. Our mission is to empower individuals
with limited resources by providing jobs, agricultural training and inclusion
in a supportive community of farmers and food lovers.

Sole Food Street Farms is wholly owned by Cultivate Canada, which oversees its
operations and activities. Cultivate Canada is a registered charity established
to demonstrate and interpret the vital connections between faming, land
stewardship, and community well-being; to model the economic and social
possibilities for small and medium scale urban and rural agricultural and
forestry projects, to address disparities in access to healthy food and the
knowledge to produce it, and to nurture the human spirit through public
programs, classes, and events.

About The Job:

The Managing Director alongside the Executive Director will have overall
strategic and operational responsibility for staff, programs, funding, and
execution of Sole Food Street Farms and Cultivate Canada’s mission. Day to day
farm operations are managed by our Director of Operations.

Responsibilities:

Financial Management: managing all financial tasks including overseeing
bookkeeping, banking, taxes and year end accounting. Preparing all required
weekly, monthly and annual reports. Preparing long term financial strategies
and assessing financial feasibility of proposed new expenditures.

Human Resources: reviewing and revising job descriptions, communications,
reviewing and revising policies, procedures and manuals, performance reviews,
hiring and contract negotiations.

Strategic Planning and Execution: reviewing and revising one to five year
plans. Setting goals for improving/expanding existing revenue streams.
Exploring new opportunities and assessing feasibility.

Marketing and Advertising: making decisions regarding how to tell our story,
how to promote. Making decisions regarding ad content, design, where and when
to advertise, manage website design and content, all other printed materials
and collateral.

Fundraising: Creatively identifying fundraising opportunities and partnerships
which meet the sponsors’ and donors’ objectives and reflect the values, ethos
and aims of Sole Food Farms. Assisting with planning and execution of various
campaign events. Networking and promoting to influential folks.

Board of Directors: Prepare and manage reporting to Board of Directors,
including quarterly operational reports, financial statements, and meeting
minutes.

Affiliation and industry relationships: Initiating and developing new
relationships with major sponsors and donors, including hosting cultivation
events and developing strategic partnerships with potential sponsors, trusts
and donors.

Requirements:

Three to five years of experience in the following:
• Fundraising
• Business management or management of a nonprofit organization

Preference will be given to candidates who also have experience in the
following areas:
• Demonstrated understanding of the non-profit sector
• Experience in marketing and/or social enterprise
• Experience in grant writing
• Undergraduate degree in a related field
• Project management experience

Salary range: TBD. Starting salary will be based on experience and
qualifications.
