Six Scholarships for Canadian undergraduates

Scholarship funds are often set up by businesses
and non-profits to encourage change, whether it’s more women in engineering,
more Canadians in business abroad or more inclusion for disabled people in the
workplace. Here are five such awards that undergraduates can apply for now.
Women in Defence and Security gives away thousands
each year to female students interested in national defence and security.
Awards are based on academics, participation in certain activities, and more.
Applicants must be passed year three. The deadline is Nov. 30.
The Canadian Youth Environmental Leadership Scholarship
will be given to two students in their second or third years of university who
best combine academic achievement and public environmental service. The prizes
are $5,000 and summer employment at Cenovus Energy, The Delphi Group, ARC
Resources or a similar organization. The deadline to apply is Nov. 30.
The BMO Capital Markets Lime Connect Equity ThroughEducation Scholarships are $5,000 awards for students with
disabilities. Applicants must be undergraduates studying business, engineering,
math, physics, statistics or a related discipline. The fund prefers candidates
interested in work in capital markets or financial services. The deadline is
Dec. 16th.
The Vale Undergraduate Scholarships in Engineering
are three $10,000 annual awards for women in their first three years of study
who plan to go into mining. The deadline is Jan. 4, 2013.
The Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation
offers five $5,000 scholarships each year to Canadian women in their first
three years of studying engineering. The deadline is Jan. 11, 2013.
Export Development Canada offers 30 International
Business Scholarships annually worth $4,000 each. They’re for undergraduate
university or college students interested in pursuing careers or more schooling
in international business. Up to five go to for students in programs that combine
business with environmental studies. The deadline is Feb. 4, 2013.
