of Sussex invite applications for a number of Graduate Teaching Assistantships
in UK. These are offered for highly qualified Masters Graduates who wish to
study for a PhD or MPhil in the School. Successful candidates will receive an
annual stipend plus a fee waiver at either UK/EU or overseas level. Selection
will be based on the academic merit and will be based on the quality of the
student’s research plans. UK, Europe (Non-UK), International (Non-UK/EU)

Scholarship Description: The School of Business Management and Economics (and SPRU) is pleased
to offer a number of Graduate Teaching Assistant Positions for highly qualified
Masters graduates who wish to study for a PhD or MPhil in the
School. Business and Management is a young, dynamic and research-focused
department. Since its birth in 2009 it has attracted and recruited
world-leading experts as well as young and promising researchers across several
wide-ranging research clusters. The Department of Economics enjoys an
international reputation for its predominantly applied research, mainly in the
areas of development economics and poverty reduction, labour economics,
international trade, environment and climate change. SPRU – Science and
Technology Policy Research is the centre of a worldwide network of
interdisciplinary researchers addressing the analysis of the rate and direction
of scientific change and innovation, the promotion and management of
innovation, the regulation of technological risks, the search for effective
energy policies and paths to a more sustainable society.
Number of awards offered: A number of Graduate Teaching Assistant Positions for highly qualified
Masters graduates.
Duration of award(s): The successful candidates will be required to undertake teaching and
associated duties for up to six hours a week during term time. The appointment
is for one year in the first instance, renewable on an annual basis subject to
a satisfactory review of both teaching performance and progression with research.
What does it cover? An annual stipend of £15,000 plus a fee waiver at either UK/EU or
overseas level, as applicable. Successful candidates will also benefit from an
annual stipend of £15,000 plus a fee waiver at either UK/EU or overseas level,
as applicable.
Selection Criteria: Appointment will be on academic merit and will be based on the
quality of the student’s research plans and their ability to contribute to
teaching of core modules within the entire School.
