the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either
frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one
month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting
country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police
checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE
PURPOSE:
In
the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to
work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours
accordingly.

KEY
AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
  • Assist
    in establishing VCT services in Mahama Refugee Camp (in the newly
    established) Health Centre supported by SC.
  • Perform
    HIV/AIDS counselling and testing.
  • Ensure
    that all pregnant mothers are counselled and tested for HIV at all entry
    points (e.g., antenatal care, labour and delivery, postnatal care,
    Expanded Program of immunization, nutrition program and general outpatient
    department).
  • Support
    facilities with the provision of comprehensive TB/HIV/AIDS services,
    focusing on PMTCT and pediatric care and treatment.
  • Adhere
    to MOH standards at VCT&PMTCT and pediatric care and treatment
    services including registration and reporting.
  • Ensure
    the tools are followed in the continuation of clinical and periodic
    immunological staging and monitoring of all HIV-infected children.
  • Ensure
    the availability and proper use of diagnostic tools, job aids and
    therapies for health facilities.
  • Arrange
    referral if deemed necessary for PLWHIV for further services to ensure
    continuum of care
  • In
    collaboration with TB/HIV coordinator ensure monitoring and evaluation
    including information system management is established in the Health
    Centre
  • Perform
    other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A1
    degree /certificate holder in Nursing, social work, sociology, psychology
    or other related sector
  • Trained
    VCT counsellor, Psychologist or Nurse Trained in VCT services with 1year
    experience in HIV/AIDs programming
  • Having
    a background of Nursing will be an added value
