ENUMERATORS
Background:
Save
the Children International Rwanda Country office started working in Rwanda
since in 1994, in the aftermath of genocide against the Tutsi, focusing mainly
in tracing parents or relatives of thousands of children who had become
separated from their families. Since then, Save the Children have been working
in partnership with the government and local stakeholders to promote a bright
future for Rwanda’s children.

In
order to achieve the above vision and mission, Save the Children International
Rwanda Country office has structured its interventions around five thematic
areas that include: Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Health and
Nutrition, Education (Early Childhood Care and Development and Basic education)
and Humanitarian Response (Primary health, protection, education and
livelihoods).

part of its activities, Save the Children conducts research and evaluation
activities with the aim to generate evidence that informs its core
interventions. It is in this regard that Save the Children wishes to invite
competent and experienced candidates to submit their applications for these
positions.

Scope

The
scope of the assignment varies from one research/evaluation project to another
and this will clearly be defined in specific research proposals. Successful
enumerators will be called-upon on temporary basis (fixed period) based on the
ongoing activity and be given fixed-term contracts.

Enumerators
will perform the following tasks:

- Participate
in training sessions prior to field work, - Conduct
interviews in the field using survey instruments designed by Save the
Children; - Conduct
field preparation, including engaging local authorities and identifying
potential research participants; - Support
Save the Children research team in collecting primary data for both
qualitative and quantitative research; - Produce
qualitative interview write-ups (transcripts); - Upload
and submit data collected on daily basis; - Document
any issues arising from field and submit a report to the field supervisor; - Assist
in any other tasks related to the delivery of the evaluation/research
activities.
Required
qualification and experience

We
are seeking for qualified and self-motivated individuals with the following key
qualifications and competencies:

- At
least a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, clinical Psychology,
Pedagogy, social sciences, Population studies and statistics - Experience
in data collection in districts and nationwide surveys (such as EGRA,
EICV, DHS and similar surveys) - Experience
in qualitative (interviewing, expert note-taking, high quality
transcription), quantitative data collection as well as data entry - Experience
in translating document from Kinyarwanda to English and vice versa - Experience
in using digital devices for data collection, GPS equipment and
PDAs/Android Tablets, photography and recording. - At
least 3 years of relevant experience - Strong
communication (written and spoken) skills in Kinyarwanda and English as
well as interpersonal skills - Willingness
to work in rural areas and on weekends, if required

situation of children must be improved through the promotion of their rights
supported and demonstrated by all members of staff. Save the Children
International’s Code of Conduct sets out the standards which all staff members
must adhere to.
