Save the Children is the world’s

Save the Children works in thirteen districts in Rwanda with a current staff
complement of approximately 134 staff.
SC Rwanda Country Office seeks to
hire qualified, committed and experienced National to fill the following
position:

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the role holder will
have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or
intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work
in country programs.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The role of the communications
intern is to support the communications team in delivering the communications
and media work plan. The post-holder will help with administrative and
logistics duties of the communications team, and support with content gathering
in the field, translations, donor/media field visits and event management. The
role is a learning one, and the intern will be given opportunities to learn new
skills and understand the in-and-outs of managing media and communications in
an NGO.
The contract length is up to one
year.
KEY AREAS OF
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Media Engagement:
- Support regular media monitoring of the local media on
what is being reported on key issues related to children and Save the
Children - Translate press releases and other media documents from
English to Kinyarwanda. - Organise and support media field visits
External Communications
- Support development of communications materials such as
case studies, feature stories, blogs, multimedia materials and any
external marketing materials. - Draft suggested content for the social media content
plan
Internal Communications
- Support production of accurate and interactive internal
communications materials for Rwanda CO staff and the wider Save the Children
organisation, on One Net, newsletters and other materials as outlined in
the communications strategy. - Help populate the noticeboard in the country office
- Develop communications materials for internal staff
activities
Events
- Support administrative and logistical work around
donor/member trips as necessary - Help organise external events for the country office as
necessary

QUALIFICATIONS AND
EXPERIENCE:
Essential
Required
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in communications).
- Excellent relationship building skills in order to work
with multiple stakeholders and grantees in the field - Excellent language skills (written and spoken) in
Kinyarwanda and English - Excellent communications and relationship building
skills with children in order to gather good case studies - Familiarity with digital and social media
- An initiative-taking, proactive, inspiring attitude with
the ability to manage and prioritise an unpredictable workload and solve
problems quickly with limited support - Excellent IT skills, especially in Microsoft Office
Desirable
- Ability to take quality video and photographs;
proficiency with Adobe programmes including Photoshop, Premieres and
Indesign
