Foundation (RLB),is a Dutch non-governmental organization working in
Rwanda since 2004. The central mission of the organization is to target empower
groups and individuals that form the target of hate speech and ensuing acts,
and to strengthen the population as a whole. Through the use of entertainment
& education (mainly radio and TV programs) and grassroots empowerment
activities, the societies RLB works with are given the knowledge of how to
resist incitement to violence and heal trauma, encouraging them to be active
bystanders in the face of discrimination, scapegoating and mass violence.

Radio La Benevolencija seeks a full time Project
Support Intern, for a minimum four month long internship in
Kigali, Rwanda. The Intern will mainly support RLB in project implementation,
communications and monitoring. The intern will gain a strong understanding of
project management, peace building, communications and monitoring. Tasks
include:

1. Project Support
· Edit translations from Kinyarwanda to English,
mainly radio drama scripts and stories generated from Most Significant Change
field visits and reports

· On a daily basis, draft reports on relevant web
and press clippings that feature RLB

· On a monthly basis, summarize major news stories
on issues relating to Rwanda, human rights, conflict management and trauma
healing

· Support research proposals and project baselines
· Assist with fundraising
2. Communications
- Write articles for the Newsletter
- Write case studies for reports and publication
materials - Update and monitor social media channels
(mainly the Facebook page) on a daily basis - Update material for the general RLB Website
- Update contacts and mailing list
- Write press releases
- Contribute to event planning
3. Monitoring
- Implement the Most Significant Change (MSC)
tool, in collaboration with the Monitoring Officer - Carry out field visits with Monitoring Officer
(to support and verify the MSC process and trips) - Participate in the selection process of MSC
stories
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (graduate or
current student), preferably in Communications, Journalism,
Social/Political Sciences or Conflict Management - Fluency in English (preferably native speaker)
- Ability to take initiative, work well under pressure,
and work independently with minor supervision - Superior writing skills
Preferred but not required
- Knowledge in French
- Experienced user of social media
- Monitoring experience
- Radio editing skills
- Video editing skills
- Photography skills
Conditions of internship
- Preferred starting date May/June 2014 for a of
minimum 4 months - Unpaid
- Intern needs to bring his/her own laptop
La Benevolencija will cover any necessary visa
costs and assist in the visa application process. RLB will also cover costs
related to the field work. All other costs (accommodation, flight,
vaccinations) will be at the intern’s expense.
