Position: Executive Director

reThink Green is seeking an Executive Director to lead the
organization as we expand our current programming in and beyond the
Sudbury Basin.
reThink Green is a non-profit community environmental network,
providing support, resources, and educational opportunities to 20+
member organizations. reThink G
reen also operates The Forge, a social
and business incubator, hosting entrepreneurs, start-ups, and local
not-for-profits in a shared workspace.
As the annual host of the Earth Day Festival and a leading
organization in Sudbury’s growing social enterprise sector, we have a
strong presence in the community, and we work with multiple partner
organizations on collaborative projects.
The new Executive Director will report to the Board of reThink Green,
and during an initial transition period, will work closely with the
outgoing Executive Director. The position will be located in reThink
Green’s offices in Sudbury, Ontario.
Closing Date: 20 June, 2014
Salary: $38,000 – $44,500 depending on experience

Primary Responsibilities
• Participate with the Board of Directors in developing and delivering
a strategic plan to guide the organization
• Lead the development of new programs and partnerships
• Ensure that the operation of the organization meets the expectations
of its clients, Board and Funders
• Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of the
organization’s programs and services
• Monitor the day-to-day delivery of the programs and services of the
organization
• Recruit, interview and select staff that have the right technical
and personal abilities to help further the organization’s mission
• Work with staff and the Board (Finance Committee) to prepare a
comprehensive budget
• Research funding sources, oversee the development of fund raising
plans and write funding proposals to increase the funds of the
organization
• Support the Board in fundraising activities as appropriate
• Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements
with community groups, funders, politicians, and other organizations
to help achieve the goals of the organization
Education
• University degree in a related field or appropriate combination of
skills and experience
Knowledge, skills and abilities
• Knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to
non-profit organizations
• Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation applicable to
non-profit sector organizations including: employment standards, human
rights, occupational health and safety, charities, taxation, CPP, EI,
funding opportunities, proposal and grant preparations
• Knowledge of current trends and management principles for a shared workspace
• Human resources, financial and project management skills
Proficiency in the use of computers for:
• Word processing
• Website administration
• Financial management
