The post holder will be based at the MRC/UVRI Unit in Entebbe, but substantial fieldwork will involve data collection in rural areas of Wakiso and Mpigi Districts. The post-holder will work with an experienced Senior Health Economist. The post is very suitable for young scientists who wish to develop a research career in health economic
He/she will be a key member of a dedicated multidisciplinary team of researchers. He/she will make a major contribution to research in chronic disease that is expected to provide important data for health planning and health policy.
Requirement:
The successful applicant for this position must have a post graduate degree at Masters level in Health Economics, Economic Policy and Planning or a related subject and have a working experience of at least two years, and preferably one of which will have been spent in research.
Experience in public health and previous experience in field work will be advantages.
The candidate should be self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision- well organised, computer literate and have proven effective communication skills.
Terms:
This position will be remunerated according to the Ugandan MRC/UVRI Unit system. The salary is attractive and will depend on qualifications and experience.
The appointment will be for two years initially and is renewable.
