Reliance Petroleum is a 100% owned by BP Australia. Operating in regional and rural Australia, we have a wide network of over 200 direct managed retail service stations, an extensive network of distribution facilities and a fleet of over 250 delivery tankers servicing a broad range of commercial and retail customers with BP fuels and Castrol lubricants in country Australia.
We are currently looking for an assistant accountant who can assist in the monthly reporting process to produce timely and accurate financial results ensuring compliance with company policy, Australian accounting standards and corporations law.
Working in the Finance team and reporting to the Financial Reporting & Control Manager, you will:
• Responsible for various month end processes and journals – payroll interface, prepayments (rates, work cover etc), accruals (payroll, AP etc), provisions (bonus, FBT etc) and processing various cartage journals.
• Inventory analysis
• Analyse financial reports and management information to ensure compliance with company policy and internal standards
• Cash flow – daily monitoring of cash flow and advising of repayments or draw-downs
• Finance Leases – responsible for maintaining and reconciling company’s finance lease agreements. Responsible for month end journals to ensure the interest and repayments are correctly recorded and any pay outs are correctly recorded.
• Balance sheet reconciliations – completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring that the reconciled items are immediately identified followed up and investigated
• Assisting external auditors with work papers and other requests
• Coordinate insurance claim processing with Reliance insurance broker
• Other ad-hoc tasks as and when required
If you are near completion or have already completed your CPA/CA program with 3 plus years in a similar role we will like to hear from you. Knowledge and experience with using a large ERP system is preferred. Key to your success will be your strong Excel skills and your ability to meet competing priorities.
