We’re building a leading edge Passive House – 90% more efficient than
typical new homes and far exceeding R-2000, ENERGY STAR or LEED
standards. 25,000 Passive Houses already are built and are code in
parts of Europe… but this will be one of the first in Canada.
Using only proven techniques, this home will b
e super
energy-efficient, beautiful and comfortable, yet affordable. It will
also be Net-Zero Ready: with the addition of a modest photovoltaic
solar system, this home can achieve the elusive $0 utility bill.
No previous experience with Passive Houses is needed, just a genuine
interest in this project.
You will be working with a great team of carpenters and a certified
passive house designer.
Required: Due to Quebec law, you need either a Red Seal certificate
for General Carpenter, or CCQ membership.
Location: Chelsea QC, surrounded by nature but only minutes from
Ottawa. If you’re from outside the Ottawa area, accommodation can be
arranged.
Start date: As soon as possible. Build has already started and will be
finished no later than Dec 2015.
